S. Thomas’ left-arm pacie Kalana Perera ripped through Zahira’s batting as he ended with an impressive seven-wicket haul to bundle out the home team for a paltry 97 in the morning session of play on day two in the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter played at Zahira ground in Maradana.

Zahira resuming from their overnight score of 42 for 5 succumbed to Kalana’s bowling as he ended with impressive bowling figures of 7 for 30.

The opening day’s play saw S. Thomas’ taking the first lease of the wicket helped by a knock of 65 by Dellon Peiris making a modest score of 244.

Zahira made to follow on with a deficit of 147 runs to avoid an innings defeat were struggling on 63 for 5, needing another 84 runs to save the match and avoid S. Thomas’ from recording an early win.

St. Peter’s were in a strong position against Wesley when play stopped for lunch on the second day in the match played at Bambalapitiya. The morning session of play saw Sachin Silva’s five-wicket haul sending the Wesleyites resuming from their overnight score of 58 for 3 reeling to a score of 134.

St. Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa has already taken a first-innings lead against Nalanda on day two in the match played at Katuneriya. St. Joseph Vaz in reply to Nalanda’s score of 156 resuming from their overnight score of 131 for 3 went on to make 204.

Christ King College Tudella were in a strong position against Loyala College Kochchikade when play stopped for lunch in the match played at Tudella.
