Sri Lanka Tourism’s top IT official wins CIO of the Year award

Udana Wickramasinghe, Director ICT at Sri Lanka Tourism has picked up the CIO of the Year 2017 award from the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL),
The CIO of the Year Award is presented in recognition of exceptional leaders who contributes to Sri Lanka’s ICT industry and impacting its evolutionary course, according to a media release from the organisers. It is presented during the launch of National IT Conference each year by the CSSL.

Mr. Wickremasinghe is a seasoned digital executive who has provided effective stewardship for local and global organisations. He started his career in banking and moved into IT which helped him to gain significant experience in both digital and business arenas. He has over 22 years of experience, with 11+ at the C-level, in Sri Lanka, the UK and Australia.

He is currently providing the leadership for the Sri Lanka Tourism Technology Group, where he oversees operations of three key organisations including Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau, and Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management or formerly known as the Colombo Hotel School.

As the CIO of Sri Lanka Tourism, he spearheads many technology initiatives at the organisational and national level including Online Tourism Business Licensing, Online Investment Case Management, Digital Marketing Campaigns, Enterprise Resource Planning and Business Intelligence.
