Sinniah is new Navy Commander

Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah has been appointed as the Navy Commander by President Maithripala Sirisena.
Educated at the Trinity College, Kandy, he joined the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee, as an Officer Cadet in 1982 and graduated in 1984.

Among the many awards he won for gallantry and bravery in the face of the enemy are the Weera Wickrama Vibushanaya (WWV), the Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP), the Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) and the Uththama Seva Padakkama (USP).
He held several senior positions in the navy and held the post of Commander Eastern Naval Area before his appointment as the Commander of Navy.

Vice Admiral Sinniah is married to Thiruni and has a son, Taarun (22) and a daughter Enakshi (19).
