TNA holds talks with US delegation, raises Tamil issues

The visiting United States Congress delegation met Tamil National Alliance R. Sampanthan and Jaffna District Parliamentarian and TNA Spokesman M.A. Sumanthiran in Colombo on Thursday.

The Congress delegation led by House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen included House Appropriations Committee member Henry Cuellar, US Ambassador Atul Keshap and other officials.

The TNA leader briefed the delegation on the TNA’s stance on the new Constitution, the Office of the Missing Persons, the land issue, and several socio-economic issues facing the Tamil people.

Mr. Sampanthan told the delegation that the US government must hold the Sri Lankan Government accountable for the commitments it has made to the international community particularly with regard to the full implementation of the Co-sponsored UNHRC resolution.
