It was a big night for entertainment, as this year’s BET Awards took place Sunday night in Los Angeles.

Hosted by the hilarious Leslie Jones, the annual awards show celebrated the top musical talent — and a memorable red carpet.

Kendrick Lamar swept with Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, while Chance the Rapper was honored with BET’s humanitarian award for his incredible work to better the public education system.

He recently donated $1 million to Chicago’s public schools — and the award was presented in a video message by Michelle Obama.

Although Beyoncè lead with 7 nominations, she skipped the awards show, reportedly to be with her newborn twins.

However, her sister Solange gave a powerful speech after she was awarded the Centric Award, thanking BET for giving her icons like Missy Elliot and Aaliyah.
