Merry-go-round at Lanka Hospitals
View(s):Another director who resigned earlier at Lanka Hospitals was this week reappointed in a bizarre and unexplained turn of events at the directorate of the hospital company.
On Friday, the company said Nandana Jayantha Munasinghe was appointed to the board as an independent, non-executive director. The announcement failed to mention that he was a director earlier – appointed as recent as March 2017, and had resigned in May.
On May 9, seven directors including Mr. Munasinghe resigned and a few days later (May 15) four were re-appointed, excluding Mr. Munasinghe.
These changes were announced in notices to the Colombo Stock Exchange without any explanation. More than a month later, Mr. Munasinghe returns to the board of directors.
