An autobiography of a pen

I was born in Japan. I am a blue pen. They gave me the name Stylo. I don’t know my parents but I had a lot of sisters and brothers. My master was a very kind person. One day he arranged us all in a comfortable box and delivered us to a large bookshop.
I was very glad to go to my new home.

One day a little boy came and bought me from the bookshop. Soon I got to know that I was going to a big house. My new master is Jack and I serve him. He uses me to write a lot of words and even in exams. Sometimes he uses me to write wrong spellings. But I can’t inform him and then I am a bit worried.
I can’t speak so what can I do? I can’t speak but I write well.

A visit to a theme park
During my school holidays, I went to Sunway Lagoon in Malaysia. In Sunway Lagoon, there were lots of activities. There were slides, rides,
water parks, fairs, shows etc. And after going to all the rides we thought of going to the lagoon. When we were in the lagoon, our father bought us cold lemonade. My sister and I swam in the lagoon and had a lovely time. Then we went on the scariest train. When we were going in the train we saw a place where they kept prisoners a long time ago.
We came home in the evening.
Sunway Lagoon was one of the best parks that I have visited.

Colombo Lotus Tower
The Colombo Lotus Tower construction is in progress and will stand at 350 metres in height; therefore the Lotus Tower will be the tallest building
in South Asia.

It is also said that the Lotus Tower is 50m taller that the Eiffel Tower in France. It is being built by China. The tower costs 104.3 million US dollars. The Lotus Tower is named as such since the design of the building has been inspired by the Lotus flower. Since the Lotus is a very important symbol to Sri Lanka’s culture that is used to symbolize the flourishing business development within the island.

The Tower will only have five functioning floors. A telecommunications museum and restaurant will be on the ground floor. The tower podium will consist of six floors. The first floor of the podium will accommodate a museum and two exhibition halls. The second floor will be utilized for several conference halls with seating space in excess of 400 people. Restaurants, supermarkets and food courts will be situated on the third floor. A 1000 seat auditorium will be located on the fourth floor which will also be used as a ballroom. The fifth floor will include luxury hotel rooms, large ballrooms with the sixth floor hosting an observation gallery. The landscaping is planned in the form of a large water park.

We are counting our fingers to see this magnificent tower to visit when it is completed. And I can be proud to say it will change the Colombo landscape with this landmark tower.

International Women’s Day
A human body can bear only upto
45 Dels (Unit) of pain. Yet at the time
of giving birth, a mother feels upto
75 Dels of pain. This is similar to
20 bones getting fractured at a time. Similarly, in our day to day lives a woman actually faces thousands of problems in our society just because she is a woman; yet she keeps her face high up and keeps moving on.

To salute the spirit of women, International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8.
In our day to day lives, a woman nurtures us in the form of a mother; supports us in the form of a sister, fights for us in the form of a friend
and loves us in the form of a wife.

A single woman has all these roles in her lifetime; although society, treats her as inferior.
In some countries, children are not allowed to study just because they are girls. In early days, women were not allowed to work; therefore she does all the house-hold work and looks after the home. But these days women go to work just like men, earn like men yet she has the family burden to look after all by herself. This vividly shows the superiority of men.

A woman must be given equal rights just like men; and she must be free to follow her dreams and be respected.

The marvellous meadow
I am stretched in a grassy plain,
Which is light green in colour,
Cosy and comfortable to lie on it,
Hey, isn’t this meadow marvellous?

A crystal blue stream is flowing by,
With cool and pure water in it.
Gorgeous birds fly to the stream,
For they want to drink some water.

The view of the mountain is attractive,
They are getting brighter and brighter in blue,
It seems they’re taller than the sky,
I have never seen such a nice scenery.

Cool breeze is flowing around,
Giving me a very pleasant feeling,
The orchard is lying nearby,
With trees full of fruits,
This is the best scenery,
Anyone could ever see.
