Three persons including two foreigners were rescued from drowning by the Coastguard in two separate incidents off Mirissa and Hikkaduwa, the Navy said.

A foreigner and a local were rescued at Mirissa on Thursday while being dragged away by the waves. The foreigner was identified as an Iranian National, Akbar Yolami 54, while the local was a resident of Mt Lavinia.
