Kandy gets digital parking meters
View(s):Digital meters to charge parking fees from vehicles in Kandy were launched yesterday.   Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake inaugurated the system by parking his vehicle and obtaining a ticket.
From the moment a motorist is issued a ticket, the meter begins to record the time. When he or she returns, the ticket is inserted into the meter which will then issue another ticket indicating how much to be paid. Traffic wardens have been deployed to operate the meters.
