Former Central Bank (CB) Governor Arjuna Mahendran on Friday recorded a statement relating to the controversial bond issue before a unit of police officers assisting the bond-related Commission of Inquiry.

He has made an initial statement on the bond auction at the CB during his tenure in which it is alleged undue advantage was given to Perpetual Treasuries, a company owned by his son-in-law, legal experts closely following the proceedings, said.

Commission hearings were postponed on Friday to Monday March 13 as its members had to attend the ceremonial sittings of the new Chief Justice Priyasad Dep.

Mr. Mahendran has also been asked to appear before the Commission tomorrow to give evidence on the bond issue at a public hearing.
