M.S.M. Hussain – leads Kandy lawyers

Senior lawyer M.S.M.Hussain was last week elected as the new President of the Kandy Bar Association for 2017-2018.
He had served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) previously.
He entered the Sri Lanka Law College in 1975 and took his oaths as an Attorney-at-Law in 1978. He also obtained his Masters in Law (LL.M) from the University of Colombo.

He served as the chairman of the Agrarian Board of Review of the Central Province and also for the North-Western Province and as an examiner for the Final Examinations of Attorneys-at-Law.

A founder member of Sri Lanka Law net editorial board, he has developed the New Law Reports and Sri Lanka Law Reports for this project.
He published his monumental project of Hussain’s Complete Digest of Case Law of Sri Lanka in 2005 in 22 volumes to cover the period 1820-2000 and published two supplementary volumes in 2008 copies of which have been sent by the Justice Ministry to all Law Libraries in Court Houses throughout the country. In 1990 he published his book on the law relating to Provincial Councils in Sinhala as a complete text book and has largely revised this edition now updating the development of the law to be published very soon.

Shantha Ratnayake was elected as Secretary and Udayana Kirindigoda Attorney-at-Law as the Treasure uncontested.
