The Colombo Airport, Ratmalana, inaugurated in 1935, is attracting many smaller aircraft, with renovations currently on at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

Colombo Airport Manager, Aruna Rajapaksa told the Sunday Times that, with the re-opening of the airport for commercial flights, the revenue too has increased in recent months.

He said that, among the flights landing have been medical flights transporting patients for treatment.

“Since January this year to date, as many as 80 flights have landed at the airport,” he said.

He said the facilities provided at the airport too attract more commercial flights.

In addition, the airport is also used as a Flight Training School.
