Sri Lanka’s Consul General Faizer Mackeen suffered a cardiac arrest soon after he addressed the Independence Day ceremony at his office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and was hospitalised, an official said.

He is being treated at the intensive care unit of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah.

Mr. Mackeen was the President of the Association of Licensed Foreign Employment Agencies (ALFEA) before he was appointed as Sri Lanka’s Consular General in Jeddah nine months ago.
