Shouldn’t CEB/LECO give a rebate for early settlement?

It is reported the power regulator, the PUCSL has issued fresh guidelines to CEB /LECO to pay interest on the security deposit of electricity consumers held by these institutions. It was also mentioned that the service providers are now required to pay 8.93 per cent interest on the security deposit made by each customer when providing an electricity connection.

Whilst welcoming the above decision to reward the consumers for their deposit, I would like to request the PUCSL to direct CEB /LECO to grant at least a nominal rebate for payment of electricity bills within say 1 or 2 weeks. I am aware that the NSWDB grants a discount of 2 per cent for water bills if settled within 2 weeks from the date of the invoice.

The rebate will serve as an incentive for consumers to make prompt settlement of the bills and at the same time increase the cash flow of CEB/LECO. Hope the service providers will consider this proposition as it benefits both the provider and the user.
