Founded in 1971, the Society of Upliftment& Rehabilitation of Leprosy Affected Persons (SUROL) is an organization led by a group of volunteers who function as a board of management, committed to look after the welfare of disabled leprosy affected people in Sri Lanka. They have a staff of eight with six sisters as field volunteer coordinators who visit the patients from time to time.

SUROL currently looks after 274 disabled Leprosy Affected People and 62 children of these families and is hoping to reach out to 350 adults and 100 children of these patients this year.
