A children’s story that fosters multi-culturalism

Encouraging children to read and share with their friends, the story in the book One Country and One People, the project, Investing in Children by Sharadha de Saram will promote the understanding of Sri Lanka’s multi-cultural identity. It is hoped that the story will inspire children to embrace diversity and build respect for the different cultural backgrounds existing in Sri Lanka.

At a programme held at the Athi KamatchiMahaKaali Amman Temple, Rajagiriya, organised by Sri Ravindran Sasthiri, temple priest, 63 children from Sinhala and Tamil language speaking cultures heard Sri Ravindran Sashthri explain the story after which the children received a copy of the book.
