Hotel Sapphire/ Hotel Concord’s Executive Culinary Art Chef Athula Kodikarage  won two Gold Excellence awards – one Gold Excellence, one Double Gold, one Silver and two Bronze medals at the 2016 IKA World Culinary Olympics held in Frankfurt, Germany recently.

Chef Kodikarage’s achievement at the Culinary Olympics brings honour to his country- the Gold Excellence award is the highest category in the Culinary Olympics system.

With over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, Chef Kodikarage  was instrumental in EAP Leisure’s success by winning 19 medals at the Chefs Guild competition in 2015 for Hotel Sapphire and Hotel Concord.

He also won two God medals at the World Cup Culinary Arts in Luxembourg in 2014 and two Golds and one Silver medal at the Culinary Olympics held in Germany in 2012- a record for the highest number of medals won by a Sri Lankan.
