LB Finance, Kanrich Finance, Hayleys, MAS Silueta in Semi-Finals
Unbeaten LB Finance (LBF) ‘A’ and Kanrich Finance ‘A’, along with Hayleys Group ‘A’ and MAS Silueta will lock horns in the Semi-finals of the ‘MIDS’ Trophy – MCA ‘B’ Division League Tournament 2017. In the Quarter-finals (QF) played last Sunday, LB Finance ‘A’ trounced Singer SL ‘A’ by 167 runs; Hayleys ‘A’ scored a convincing 39-runs win over John Keells Group (JKG) ‘B’; MAS Silueta beat Mobitel ‘A’ by 5 wickets on the D&L method and Kanrich Finance ‘A’ coasted to a comfortable 8-wicket win over Seylan Bank.
1st QF: Sri Lanka’s new find, Kusal Mendis (72 in 56 balls, inclusive of 6 sixes and 6 fours) and Shashane Fernando (50) steered LBF ‘A’ to 257 in 49.1 overs, while C. Sudaraka ripped through the Singer ‘A’ batting with a brilliant spell of 8.2-0-26-5, to bundle them out for a paltry 90 runs in 25.2 overs. 2nd QF: A 127-runs 4th-wicket stand in 137 balls, between Lisula Weerasekera (84 in 94 balls, inclusive of 12 fours) and Maduranga Soyza (56 in 59 balls inclusive of 4 sixes) helped Hayleys ‘A’ beat JKG ‘B’ with 5 overs to spare
3rd QF: MAS Silueta chasing 229 runs to win in 50 overs set up by Mobitel ‘A’, kept up the D&L momentum through Pabasara Waduge (43) and I. Nissanka (55) to be in front when bad light surrounded the ground in the 39th over. 4th QF: An unbroken, run-a-ball 168-runs partnership for the 3rd wicket, between Kasun Vidura (108 not out in 104 balls, inclusive of 15 fours ) and D. Priyadarshana (76 not out in 88 balls, inclusive of 3 sixes and 6 fours), propelled Kanrich Finance ‘A’ to a crushing 8-wickets win over Seylan Bank with 15 overs to spare.
