Lions to build paediatric ward for Haltota hospital

The Centennial Year Legacy Project (Level 3) of Lions Club District 306 A2 was launched recently with the laying of the foundation stone to construct a much needed paediatric ward for the Rural Government Hospital at Haltota in Horana. The funds to construct and equip this ward – Rs. 3.6 million— were raised by the Lions of the District.

The architectural design was drawn by Asanga Samarasekera Associates who have offered their services pro bono. Construction work is to be completed within nine months.

The Chief Guests at the launch was Lion District Governor Dr. Athula Kikkaduwa and his wife Lady Lion Dr. Dhamayanthi.
Among the Lions in attendance were Past District Governors: Dr. Nandana Kaluaratchchi, his Dr. Manel, Arjun Abeysinghe, Asanga Samarasekera, Chandra Katuwawela, First Vice District Governor Widyakeerthi Dissanayake, his wife Ajitha, Lion Cabinet Secretary Kumudu Kitsiri, Convention Secretary Kumar Rodrigo, Lion Deputy Cabinet Secretary Somathilake Hettiarachchi, GMT Coordinator Mangala Perera, his wife Lion Anusha and District Centennial Coordinator Farid Abdelcader.
This event was coordinated and organised by the Region 5 Zone 1 Chairperson Gihan Perera of the Kananwila/Haltota Lions Club.
