Outreach clinics for elders
View(s):The Geriatric Medical Unit of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital will hold Community Outreach Clinics for elders in Dehiwala and Piliyandala. They hope to give their caregivers advice, do an initial geriatric screening, check vision and also do basic Physiotherapy for patients with Musculoskeletal Disease. The first clinic was held yesterday in Piliyandala and the next will be held on October 1 for Dehiwala from 8 a.m. – 12 noon.
The Geriatric clinic is now held every Tuesday from 2 – 4 p.m. in the Colombo South Teaching Hospitals.
As there was a need to support the aged in the community, it was decided to conduct Geriatric clinics in Dehiwala and Piliyandala with the help of the Social Service Officers in line with International Elders Day which falls on October 1.
