Autobiography of  a mango tree
I am a mango tree. I bear many mangoes. People use my mangoes when raw and make pickles and chutney. When ripe they eat me as a fruit. Children love the sweet juicy fruit. Even the squirrels and birds enjoy my fruit.
I have a big trunk and lots of branches and a lot of leaves too. Sometimes children play under my spreading shade.
I enjoy being a mango tree.

The king who had seven rings
Once upon a time
In a land with no night
Lived a selfish king
Who had seven rings

One day a man came
To visit the king who lay
In his royal chair
With no burden to bear

“My dear lord,” the man said
“An evil witch said
That if I don’t give her one of your rings
She will harm my son!
Oh King.”

The king seemed not to care
To help him he didn’t dare
So one day in his sleep
A witch came, it wasn’t a dream.
She took her wand and said,
“That man who asked for help was your dad!”

Now he knew his life was
at stake
He gave the witch his rings and said, “Take.”
But it was too late
She put the selfish king into an eternal sleeping fate.

How the environment treated us
We all were sad when the environment treated us badly during the last few days. Many people suffered because of the floods and earthslips. Especially the earthslip that happened in Aranayake was a disaster. A village was completely destroyed by this big earthslip. Not only that, many people suffered from floods too. We all were so sad and worried about them. But we all helped them the way we could. We gave them food, clothes and many more things.
Not only us, all  Sri Lankans have done a big service to those who suffered. This shows our unity. All these happened because of the human activities and to show that we should be united and care for the nature to help whenever a thing like that happens.

Ambition in life
Every man has an ambition in life. It is ambition that puts him into action. If a man has no ambition he may not work hard. On the other hand, if he has ambition he will try to work hard and will be ever up and doing things.
Like other people, I also have an ambition in my life. I wish to be a doctor and serve the poor people of my country. I have much respect for doctors. A doctor gives relief to suffering people. There are many diseases, which make our lives miserable.
Whenever any fatal disease attacks a man, the services of a doctor are indispensable.
I want to be an ideal doctor. I would not run after money. I will give free medicine to the poor and needy. I shall set up a clinic of my own. I wish to carry on research on diseases for which no medicine has yet been found out. The result of research will enrich the medical world.

Wales
From an overseas club member
Ever wanted to go abroad? Ever wanted to enjoy the sights of another country? Well, your place is Wales, there are glorious mountains of all shapes and sizes which are great for sight-seeing. You can feel the tranquil breezes tickling your neck with every step you take; the ocean’s rhythmical waves rushing back and forth.
Go and explore the lovely monuments or go to the sea beach. The seaside gives you a great opportunity to have some fun and to spend quality time with your family. Further up the beach is an enormous pier with a pleasing gift shop, plenty of rides and a fun arcade. The seaside is a lovely place to go. Especially in Wales where you can chill out and have the best ice-cream. Another child said, “I had so much fun on a toboggan ride and skiing hill.”
