Award-winning Indian playback singer Arijit Singh will hold his maiden live in concert in Colombo today, May 8 at the Havelock Sports Grounds from 7.30 pm onwards.

Presented by Carnival Media, the event production is handled by Wizcraft Colombo.

A 45-piece band comprising some of the world’s best musicians will be part of the grand symphony accompanying Arijit Singh.

Arijit Singh who began his career participating in the reality show Fame Gurukul (2005), in which he lost at the finals. But he won another reality show called 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil, paving the way for him to set up a recording studio.

Singh became a household name the world over with the release of “Tum Hi Ho” from Aashiqui 2 in 2015 which clinched him the best male playback singer’s award for the song at the 59th Filmfare Awards. In 2014, he collaborated with Jeet Gannguli—for whom he performed the rest of his tracks in Aashiqui 2 —for CityLights, where he rendered the romantic version of the song “Muskurane”, which fetched him the most nominations in the year. Gannguli composed Suno Na Sangemarmar and Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy’s Sufi song, Mast Magan garnered him another two nominations at the 60th Filmfare Awards.
