Asgiri Karaka Sangha Sabha meets to appoint Anunayake

The Asgiri Karaka Sangha Sabha will meet on April 27 to elect a new Anunayake, a post that fell vacant when one of the Anunayake’s was recently appointed the Mahanayake of the Asgiri Chapter.

Senior members of the Sangha Sabha will also present their credentials to the Sabha, but, it is unlikely there would be a contest, the Sunday Times was told.

The former Asgiri Mahanayake re introduced the custom of appointing two Anunayake’s, a tradition that was stopped during the British colonial administration.
