Old Anandian 1984 Group donates computer lab
View(s):Old Anandian 1984 Group is a sub group affiliated to Old Boys Association of Ananda College Colombo renovated an abandoned building within the school premises by converting it into a state-of-the-art Computer Lab cum Library, where the hostellers can spend their leisure time in a more meaningful manner.
Donations for the project came from well-wishers including many old boys of the school. Fifteen computers which were gifted by the Old boys Association of Queensland State in Australia were installed in the building along with book cupboards with various literary materials.
The building as opened in the presence of the Principal of Ananda College Kithsiri Liyanagamage, Deputy Principal WMCK Mahamithawa and Vice Principal/Master in Charge of the hostel Sarath Gunathilake, Warden Mr. Piyasena Mudalige, Registrar of the Hostel Capt. (Rtd) Thissa Jayawardane ,President of the Group, Col. Saman Jayawickrama and some hostellers.
President of the Group Col. Saman Jayawickrama addressing the gathering said that it is the duty of the old boys to guide the younger generation in the correct path by giving them an opportunity to change their life pattern by exposing them to technology, use of second language fluently and inculcating strength to meet life’s demands ahead.
Immediate past President Chandima Perumpuliarachchi, Attorney at Law and Zonal Vice President of the Southern Province of Bar Association Sri Lanka was the Chief Guest and he declared open the building and handed over its keys to the Principal while Secretary of the Group and the Project Chairman Theja Silva Attorney also addressed the gathering.
