The chase has begun

Once again, fanatic cricket lovers all over the world tremble with anticipation, biting their already disfigured fingernails. They are as vicious and as fervent as ever; the cricket fever has begun.

ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2016:
who would the winner be? Who would be crowned as the rightful kings of T20 cricket on that fateful evening of April 3, at
Eden Gardens, Kotkata?
Of course, as a Sri Lankan, I desperately want it to be Sri Lanka. But so far, things have not been looking good.
At the beginning, the Indians were the favourites. They seemed unbeatable, yet it was fascinating to see the Kiwis bash them down with such force. The same fate followed the mighty Kangaroos.

Then it was the Proteas against the English. As the South Africans flung the bat without tiring, striking a score almost double the number of balls, who would have believed the Englishmen would chase them down with equal vigour? Their scoreboard at the end of the match, screamed a total of 230, just one more run than the Proteas.

Everyone is in hot pursuit for the championship. This is the ultimate test for the Lankans: Will the loss of Mahela and Sanga continue to be a burden, or will they shrug their shoulders and move on?
That is soon to be seen, for the chase has already begun.

The sea
In a remote region a little girl stood, facing the pulsating sea. She was barefoot and was in ragged clothes. She had always wanted to see the sea, and now finally, her dream had come true.
A smile brightened her dusty face as she dipped her foot in the waves lapping against the sand. She stayed there until sunset, enjoying her life’s best day to the fullest. The sun glowed in the evening sky and the ocean seemed to be on fire.
The little girl woke up; she had fainted by the side of a shop, where she had been begging for food. Her eyes filled with tears of happiness as she had visited the sea, at least in her dreams. A tear fell on her tongue; it tasted of the sea.

Lost in the jungle
Once upon a time my family and I went on a picnic to Nuwara Eliya. We visited many places and the jungle too. In the jungle there were many animals, birds and insects. There were many trees which made me frightened.
Suddenly I saw a beautiful butterfly.
I wanted to catch so I ran after it. It flew and flew. At last it flew high, so I couldn’t catch.
Then I knew I was lost. I ran and ran to many places. I didn’t know what to do. I was very frightened.
At last I saw a small hut. There lived a woman in that hut. I asked help from her. She took me to a scary place and there was a telephone booth. She called the police and I went with them and I was safe with my parents.

The best places around my town
There are many places which I like to visit in my town. I live in Nawala. It is a very calm and residential area. There are so many nice places where I go to spend my leisure time.

One of the places which I visit quite often is the Wetland Park in Nawala. It is a beautiful place where my family and I go for walking. There is also a Children’s Park. Sometimes I play with my sister in this park until my mother comes back from her walk. After playing, we go for a cool walk near the fountains and enjoy the breeze.
Another interesting place I visit is the  Independence Square in Torrington. I go for cycling with my sisters and my parents go for their usual walk in the walking stretch.
I take my badminton racquets along, to play badminton with my mother who is an
expert in this game. After playing and
having fun we go to the Arcade and have supper there.
I also love to go to Diyatha Sevana in Battaramulla. I go with my family to buy plants. There are many people who sell plants over there. There is also a walking stretch where we go for a nice cool walk in the evening, enjoying the beautiful
surroundings. There is a mini zoo too.

The person I admire
I admire many people but as a famous person I admire Michael Joseph Jackson the most. He was born to an African American family in Gary, Indiana on August 29, 1958. He had  five brothers and three sisters who were also interested in music.
Michael Jackson had many careers such as, music producer, dancer, singer and song writer. His type of music was pop music.

ome of his songs are, ‘Billie Jean’, ‘Black or White’,  ‘Smooth Criminal’ and ‘Man in the Mirror’ etc. He became the ‘King of Pop’ by singing such songs. It’s well known that he received about 55 awards. Some of them are, Grammy Awards for the Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Song Album for Children and Best Music Video etc. He also got the Grammy Legend Award.

Because of an accident by a doctor, Michael took the wrong medicine and on June 25, 2009 he died at the age of only 50. Though he died, his songs are still eternal and he is the person who inspires me.
