Galle CC recorded a convincing 194-run win over CCC with more than a day to spare in the Premier Super League cricket encounter concluded at the CCC ground yesterday. The writing was on the wall for CCC as Galle CC ended their second innings on day two on 191 for 9, to gain a big lead of 333 runs. The third day’s play saw Galle CC being able to add only 11 runs as they ended the innings making 202 runs.

CCC were left with a massive target of 345 runs for victory. But they were not anywhere near it. They lost the top five wickets with the scoreboard reading just 59 runs. Apart from an unbeaten knock of 60 coming from Lasith Abeyratne, others failed to make any impression. They were folded up for just 150 runs.

Kaushal cracks career best 211
Kaushal Silva’s career best knock of 211 was the highlight of the match between SSC and Moors SC played at Reid Avenue. Kaushal, who was unbeaten on 150 on day one, added 61 more runs to his tally. His knock which came off in 313 balls had 23 boundaries and a six.

Kaushal’s double ton, a timely 91 from Kavindu Kulasekera and a half ton by skipper Thilina Kandamby saw SSC make a mammoth score of 544 for 8 declared. Moors SC in their turn ended day two on 86 for 3.

Moors SC resuming from their overnight score, made steady progress but was unable to make any headway. Denuwan Rajakaruna’s knock of 81 and useful knocks from Sachithra Serasinghe, Malinda Pushpakumara and Kaushalya Gajasinghe helped Moors reach 302. They were made to follow on with a deficit of 242 runs and were 142 for 2 at stumps.

Tamil Union has taken a first inning lead over NCC in the match at R. Premadasa Stadium. NCC in reply to Tamil Union’s score of 369 resuming on their overnight score of 235 for 5 was restricted to 282 with Upul Tharanga making a top score of 111. Tamil Union batting the second time was 184 for 3 and they now have an overall lead of 271 runs.

Colts CC in reply to Ragama CC’s score of 264 after struggling on 105 for 7 recovered to make a score of 276 to take a slender first inning lead which came on the back of a 103 made by Sadeera Samarawickrama and a 62 by Ishan Jayaratne who together put on 105 runs stand for the eighth wicket in the match played at the SSC ground.
