Pensioners across Sri Lanka can now receive their monthly pension disbursements directly to their mobile wallet, following an innovative partnership between the country’s largest mobile money network, eZ Cash, and the Department of Pensions.  The ground breaking partnership empowers any pensioner connected to the Dialog, Etisalat or Hutch mobile networks to receive a self-defined portion of their pension to their mobile phone, Dialog said in a media release.

Pensioners from across Sri Lanka can now enable this service by submitting the relevant authorisation documents to the Department of Pensions. The pensioner is empowered to request up to Rs. 25,000 from their pension to be remitted instantly to their eZ Cash account. With eZ Cash, pensioners using a Dialog, Etisalat or Hutch mobile can pay utility bills, insurance premiums, make institutional payments and much more directly from their mobile phone. In addition to carrying out payments via their mobile phone, pensioners can withdraw the instant disbursement in part or full from over 16,000 eZ Cash merchants across Sri Lanka or send money to any other eZ Cash subscriber.

The wide portfolio of eZ Cash services can be accessed via the eZ Cash APP for Android and Apple devices or via a simple menu available in tri-lingual format by dialing #111#.  Director General of the Department of Pensions, Sunil Hettiarachchi, says: ”The Department of Pensions is pleased to partner with reputed mobile money service, eZ cash, in what is a groundbreaking partnership to offer greater convenience and ease to our retired civil servants. Our objective is to remove the paperwork and hassle involved to beneficiaries when obtaining their payments and this innovative partnership with eZ Cash will pave the way for a new future and possibilities for pensioners and the department alike.”

Vice-President Digital Services of Dialog Axiata PLC, Fariq Cader, says: ”Through this partnership with the Department of Pensions, retired members of Sri Lanka’s state sector who have delivered yeoman service to our country will be greatly empowered with respect to gaining instant access to their pensions. Together with the department of pensions we have designed a dedicated and flexible solution that will deliver greater convenience and ease with respect to the receipt and use of pension disbursements”.
