The Classic Car Club of Ceylon and Land Rover for a third year running presents ‘British Car Day’, an event, which showcases British cars and motorbikes from the 1930s onwards in true festival spirit – today at the Galle Face Hotel.

“A ‘classic car’ is considered an older automobile with enough historical interest to be collectable and worth restoring.

The Classic Car Club of Ceylon is thus dedicated to provide the foundation for the preservation and restoration of the finest of these automobiles ever built. British Car Day is a celebration of the ‘Golden Age’ of the British Automotive Industry.

SML FrontierAutomotive (Pvt) Limited, the Land Rover people, have always been a major part of the British motor industry and will sponsor this year’s event.

All classic British vehicles are expected to be present, including the Jaguar, Aston Martin, Triumph, Lotus, MG, Morgan and Rolls Royce,” said Classic Car Club of Ceylon President Dinesh Jayawardana.

“We believe in the heritage and importance of classic cars whilst at the same time showcasing our vehicles in the right setting to a group of enthusiasts, who like Land Rover owners, have an affinity and love for their amazing automobiles,” said SML Frontier Automotive Managing Director, Sheran Fernando.

The event will take place at the Galle Face Hotel today, Sunday, January 31. Over 80 cars will be on display from 9 a.m. and the public will be able to see them until late afternoon.
