My school trip to Nuwara Eliya
On July 28, 2015, we went to Nuwara Eliya. We departed from school and went in buses from Yamuna Tours. We travelled by road. When we went through the mountains, we saw many green plains. Firstly we went to the Ambewela Farm. We saw cows eating grass in the cow shed. I saw one old cow giving milk to a calf to drink. The farm is divided into three called the cheese farm, milk farm and the cow shed.

After that we went to the strawberry farm. I thought there would be strawberries in it but it didn’t have any. They told us that strawberries grow in the winter season (December). Then after that we went to the canteen which had strawberries, plastic strawberry pens, strawberry drinks and other things.

After that we went to the Victoria Park. We took lunch there. We saw beautiful endemic plants and flowers. Then we journeyed back to school which took six hours. When we got to school we met our parents.
I thought this was the most memorable trip that I had in my life.

A gift for Daddy
You gave me what I wanted,
You gave me what I need
With all your hard work and money,
You’ve helped me to succeed.

You gave me the best books,
And also the best toys,
You’ve made me the most luckiest,
From all the girls and boys.

However, you missed your birthday
Twice to be exact and now,
You’ll miss another one too,
But still I know somehow,

You’re never far away from me,
Although you’re not on Earth I know,
But above the skies in Heaven,
Each year I love you more.

The causes of obesity in human beings
People eat fast food. These contain fats and carbohydrates. Eating too much fat causes obesity in human beings. Eating too much fat, oversized food portions, fast food, instant food, crisps, carbonated drinks are all very harmful to our health.
The second cause of obesity is lack of exercise because of spending too many hours in front of the television and computers, playing too many computer and video games and not playing sports.
Travelling by vehicles also means less exercise. We can walk and use the stairs instead of the lift.
We have less work at home and office because we use machines and computers. Then people are inactive and lethargic and gain weight.
A main cause is peoples’ busy schedules, no time to be physically active and not exercising regularly. Genes and family history is also a cause for this problem.
If you do not try to control obesity, diabetes, cholesterol and high blood pressure will shorten your life expectancy.

Twins are coming to stay
“Twins are
coming to stay”,
That’s what my aunt had to say
I wonder what they are like
Would they come with me for a hike?
I’m just a child
Yet, I’m very wild
I waited impatiently
For their arrival which came rather slowly!

The day they came
They put on me the blame
That I had been stealing
Not knowing my feeling
They said they were very hungry
But I was very angry
When they left
I was very happy
I don’t know where they are
And I do not care!

Birds
Birds! How nice are these birds. They are in various colours, patterns and in their music. In ancient times our ancestors got many advantages from birds. Even today, people enjoy their lives with birds. They live in groups except when the birds are pets.
Birds have split into many species like parrots, ducks, robins, osprey and kingfishers. My favourite is the parrot. Parrot is a common bird. It is green in colour and has a red beak. Some people take this bird as their pets as well as for circuses. These birds can talk when we teach them.

When we love birds they pay back double. These birds are afraid of humans. This is a feature that is common to these creatures. Birds can fly far away. When they fly in a group, they fly in the shape of a ‘V’ because birds have to fly with less effort and this way is easy. Also a common feature among birds is migration. They migrate to other countries in unfavourable environmental conditions and for reproduction purposes. For example, birds migrate in the winter season.

Birds make our world beautiful. They give an enjoyable life to human and it’s really hard to imagine a world without birds!

I went to the zoo
One sunny day we went to the zoo by train. We packed everything, food, water and some pizzas too.
The zoo was like a town chatting, shouting and screaming too.
The kingdom of animals I could see.
Monkeys and donkeys, giraffes and zebras, running through all over.
Parrots and sparrows, swans and ducks screaming aloud.
A nice charming pond filled with small and big colourful and colourless fishes I could see…
And the monkey family was actually like a busy town.
They were chatting and they were also screaming. And all the small monkeys were having ripe yellow bananas.
When it was the end of the huge animal kingdom,
I felt a little sad, leaving all the animals.
But I wish I could meet them again and again…
