Rwanda-Sri Lanka theatre collaboration

‘Dear Children, Sincerely…’, a unique project which is being done in collaboration with Sri Lankan and Rwandan artistes, attempts to bridge the generation gap by collecting the stories and experiences of the elders and taking them to the youth in the form of live performances. The project in Sri Lanka will include the Rwandan-Sri Lankan theatre collaboration of ‘Dear Children, Sincerely…’ and ‘A Conversation across Generations’. A cross section of Sri Lankan and Rwandan citizens who were born in the 30′s were interviewed for this project.

‘A Conversation across Generations’ will be held on January 30 and 31 at 10 a.m atthe ICES, Colombo 08. This event is based on a series of interview excerpts which will be presented as monologues and have been directed by Tracy Holsinger.

The play, ‘Dear Children Sincerely’ is mostly non verbal and covers many social issues faced by Rwandans and Sri Lankans of the time. Written and directed by Ruwanthie de Chickera, it covers the many important events in Rwandan and Sri Lankan history. The play will be held from January 29- 31 of at 7.30 p.m. at the Western Province Aesthetic Resort (NADA Theatre opposite the Planeterium).
