This workshop aims to provide insights to the nature of social entrepreneurship in a global setting, assess how social enterprises operate and lessons for the developing world, assess how social enterprises can deliver sustained social value and how social enterprises can be ignited, built and nurtured. “Social entrepreneurs, not-for-profits, local and international funding agencies, organizations involved in micro financing, academics, government ministries, policy planners and all those interested in social entrepreneurship are welcome to take part in this workshop,” it said.

Social entrepreneurs contribute through a multitude of activities ranging from helping slum children working in sweat-shops in developing countries to addressing poverty and environmental degradation. With decreasing government funding and increasing social and community issues, social entrepreneurs have embarked on building financially sustainable enterprises through business model innovation which includes both public and private sector partnerships, the organisers said.
