Dhananjana Anuradhi Under-15 emerge Matara’s champion athlete in Matara

Dhananjana Anuradhi of Sujatha Vidyalaya was adjudged Under-15 girls champion at the 29th Matara District Athletic Championship held at the Uyanwatte stadium recently.

Anuradhi cleared the bar at 1.35 metres to win the high jump which is her favourite event while her leap of 4.61 metres won her gold in the long jump way ahead of her rivals. Anuradhi was placed third in the 100-metre hurdles with a time of 20.56 secs.

Dhananjana Anuradhi won bronze in her pet event at the Sri Lanka Schools Junior Athletic Championship clearing the bar at 1.41 metres.

“Anuradhi has the potential to clear greater heights if she dedicates more time for her training” said coach K H Keerthi Kumara of the University of Ruhuna who was at the Uyanwatte stadium.

Keerthi is credited of identifying and coaching many a champion high jumpers including Olympian Manjula Kumara.
