The day I met a princess
It was a sunny day. I went to the library and borrowed a book about a princess. After I read half of the book I saw a beautiful princess. I said to the princess that I had heard of her in a book. The princess asked me to come to her kingdom and said that it was a beautiful kingdom. She took me to her kingdom in her chariot. After a long time we were at her kingdom.

It was a beautiful kingdom. She took me around to look at her kingdom. The trees there were in different colours. She also showed me a rainbow coloured tree which was the most powerful tree in the kingdom. She said that tree protected the whole kingdom. There were lots of animals like pandas, elephants, giraffes, horses, zebras and birds.

The birds sang beautiful songs.
The chariot was going very fast. I was in a corner and I couldn’t hold on tight so I fell down. I cried and cried. Suddenly I woke up and found out that I had had a dream. I also had fallen from bed. My mother came and picked me up. I was happy because I met a princess.

My favourite cartoon is Dora the explorer. The main characters in this cartoon are Dora, her best friend Boots who is a monkey, Backpack which provides whatever Dora needs, Swiper a sneaky fox, Benny, Tico and Isa.
In every episode Dora goes on an exploring trip to find something or help somebody. Boots helps Dora to solve clues. Swiper steals things that Dora needs to complete the quests.

Dora is always ready for adventures. She also teaches children Spanish. I watch this cartoon daily. It is very interesting.

Dedication

Dedication is the main key to open the door to success. It is very important to be dedicated. Being dedicated helps us to achieve our goals in life. We all have so many dreams and ambitions. Some are huge and gigantic ambitions. Being dedicated will help us to achieve them.
If you are a student, you must be dedicated to win in your educational life. If someone is a businessman, he should be dedicated to achieving his or her business goals.
As school children, we learn about so many dedicated people such as Thomas Alva Edison, Abraham Lincoln and Mahatma Gandhi. Dedication alone is not enough as a word. It should be done as an action. Then we can be dedicated people one day in the future!

Children’s Day
Children are the future of a country. They hold an important place in every society. Therefore all the countries
celebrate Children’s Day very grandly. Children’s Day is recognized on various days in many countries around the world. Universal Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20. Universal Children’s Day is not just to celebrate children, but to bring awareness to children around the globe about the injustices like abuse, exploitation and discrimination that they may have to face. Currently, records reveal that there.
are about 153 million children between the ages of five and fourteen who are forced into child labour. Our neighbouring country India, celebrates Children’s Day on November 14, on the birthday of their first prime minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He did a great service to offer a bright future to Indian children. So, to give him tribute, India celebrates this festival on November 14.
In Sri Lanka, Children’s Day is celebrated on October 1. International Children’s Day had its origin in Turkey in 1920 and later in the World Conference for the Wellbeing of Children, in Geneva, Switzerland in 1925.

Children are very innocent and beautiful so it is the responsibility of every single person in the country to safeguard the rights of children on this special day.

How I see myself in 15 years
I am Dhanushi. I am 12 years old. In 15 years’ time I would be 27 years old. By that time, I would have finished my studies and doing a job.
I like myself to be called Professor Dhanushi Piyaratne.
I like that because it gives me pride and respect. It is very difficult to be one but I’m trying.
My favourite subject is Biology. So I like to be a doctor in future, because that job is good and I can help many people and gain their trust. To be a doctor, I should study a lot. I should pass my O/L and A/L and get good results.

I see myself today as a young child but in 15 years’ time I would have been fully grown and have become tall and beautiful.
After 15 years, my day will be like this. I will wake up early in the morning, clean my teeth, wash my face, get dressed, eat my breakfast and drive off to the hospital. I would be sitting in my room and talking to the patients.
I don’t know if this will really happen. To make it happen, I should study well, get good marks and then I would achieve my goals.

A trip to the United Kingdom
On August 7 I visited UK with my family.
My cousins were in UK. We went to many places. My favourite places are the London Aquarium, the London Zoo, the London Eye and Piterley Manor Farmshop.
When I saw the changing of guards at Buckingham Palace I was thrilled. We also visited Hughenden Manor, Tower of London, History Museum, Bekonscot Model Village and Shrek adventure. I bought lots of toys from UK. We went on a boat ride on River Thames up to Greenwich Park. I saw lots of swans in the River Thames.
We went to several shopping malls like Ikea Sainsbury and Tesco. And we went in an underground tube train. I saw the Shard Tower and it was the tallest tower in London.
It was the best trip I have ever gone on.
