‘Riversheen School of Music’ in Moratuwa will present a Vocal Workshop to be conducted by musician/singer Tilarini and David from Melbourne Australia on Saturday 16th October at 10.00 am.

‘This will be a first of its kind in Sri Lanka and the students are given the opportunity to learn in various fields related to music and singing’ said Melantha Perera, ex Mirage and the founder of the ‘Riversheen School of Music’.

Learn how to remove vocal tension and strain, how to expand your range easily and how to listen for vocal mistakes and how to diagnose your own voice are some of areas in the field of singing.

Learn about Breathing techniques and breath support, registers and how do I access them, how to erase the break in your voice, how to sing stylistically with emotion, practise routines and effective methods, planning and pre mapping out a song with the lyric sheet and finding the right and suitable key for a song are some of the important areas touching in the learning process.

Tilarni is a singer with a gifted soulful voice that can cover anything from Jazz, soul R&B to pop music.  She first sang from a young age in her Church choir and when she left school, one of her earliest breaks was to sing on two Australian film soundtracks with CBS Records for ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ and ‘What the Moon Saw’.

Her pursuit in following her dreams led to her front-lining an 8-piece funk band Mr. Briefcase together with (now husband David) became a Grand-finalist in the Australian Yamaha Rock Battle of the Bands competition on MTV.

Voice training with teachers who have trained other industry professionals were always a part of her journey and successes up until now.

The opportunity to perform on TV first as a backup singer and then scooping a regular solo spot for nearly six years on Channel Ten – Bert Newton’s Good Morning Australia show kept her active in Melbourne’s music industry.

She has performed and continues to perform with some of Melbourne’s best singers and musicians in 5-star venues such as the Sofitel, the Hyatt, Le Meridien at Rialto, The Crowne Plaza & Crown Casino for a variety of corporate and private functions.
