Navy SC made mince meat of Air Force SC whom they demolished with nearly two sessions and a day to spare by an innings and 105 runs in the SLC Under-23 Division I cricket encounter concluded at Welisara yesterday.

Navy SC was sitting pretty at the end of the first day’s and put themselves in a strong position. Navy SC taking first lease of the wicket made a score of 249 with Lahiru Silva making a top score of 86. Air Force SC in their turn found Yoahn Soyza, Ashan Ranasinghe and Dinusha Malan too hot to handle and succumbed to a score of 97.

Air Force SC made to follow on with a deficit of 152 runs was made to struggle for their runs again and ended day one in a bad position of 10 for 3. Air Force SC needing another 142 runs with seven wickets in hand on day two to avoid an innings defeat failed to achieve it as they were dismissed for a score of just 47 runs.

An unbeaten 142 by Priyamal Perera paved the way for Colts CC resuming on their overnight score of 282 for 5 to make a formidable score of 406 for 8 just after the lunch break against SSC in the match played at the SSC ground.
The foundation for the formidable score was laid by Pasindu Isira who made 111 and added a valuable 175-run for the fifth wicket. SSC batting first made a score of 360.

Left arm spinner Sandaken Pathirana ‘s eight wicket haul sent CCC reeling on day two in their match match against Moors SC played at Braybrooke Place. CCC in reply to Moors SC’s score of 368 resuming on their overnight score of 18 for 1 was sent reeling by Sandaken who ended with impressive figures of 8 for 48 to a score of 140.

CCC made, to follow on with a massive deficit of 248 runs, was again mesmerized by Sandaken and was struggling on 56 for 5 at the tea break needing a further 192 runs to avoid an innings defeat. An unbeaten 120 inclusive of nine boundaries and two sixes by Pabasara Waduge help Tamil Union dominate proceedings against NCC in the match played at the NCC ground.

Pabasara put on a 127 runs stand for the second wicket with Imal Liyanage enabling Tamil Union resuming from their overnight score of 8 for 1 to make 201 for 3 just after the lunch break. This was in reply to NCC’s score of 274. Saracens SC from a precarious position of 70 for 5 on day one recovered to make a respectable score of 198 against Ragama CC who made 218 in the match played at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona.
