The old girls of Ladies’ College celebrated their having won the overall championship at “Girl Power” – a sports meet held on March 8 where six leading schools in Colombo namely Visakha, Methodist, Holy Family, Musaeus and St. Paul’s participated to raise much needed funds to contribute towards a Water Purification Project for the schools in the Polonnaruwa district.

The celebration was held in style at the Capri club on July 25, where the college colours of red and white were the theme and it was Congratulations & Celebrations as displayed in a red & white banner all the way from the entrance ticket, dress code, and the décor. Every detail had been thought of right from the red and white welcome drink, to the ‘LC celebrates’ paper serviettes. The table centres were victory stands with the LC flag flying high over a miniature trophy standing in 1st place and a red tea light floating below it. Outstanding was the banquet chairs which were draped in the form of the LC uniform complete with the red buckle and the box pleat. Hundreds of red and white balloons floated on an invisible net over the dancers.

Confetti bombs exploded and the DJ belted out Congratulations & celebrations while the red and white cake was cut and it was followed by an outsized champagne glass passed around. There were many interesting games and prizes and dancing followed to DJ music and dinner. It was a worthy finale for those who gave of their time, energy and skills to win this coveted trophy and contribute to a very worthy cause.
