Starting July 4th, the popular Saturday Good Market will be move across the street from the Colombo Racecourse to Rajakeeya Mawatha with both President Maithripala Sirisena and Colombo Mayor A.J.M. Muzzamil due to attend the opening.

The Saturday Good Market has more than 50 vendors with certified organic produce, natural food and snacks, eco-friendly home and garden products, handmade crafts, and more, the organisers said.

“The Good Market organizers had been looking for a weekend venue that was shady, easily accessible, and large enough for all of the Good Market vendors to come together at a single weekly event. The space was finalized with support from the Colombo Municipal Council, the Police, and Royal College. The new venue provides space for new stalls, environmental programmes, activities for kids, and special events.

The Good Market, started by volunteers, is now registered as a not-for-profit guarantee limited company and operates as a mission-driven social enterprise. Stall fees are kept as low as possible to reduce the entry barrier for rural producers, social enterprises, and new businesses that are socially and environmentally responsible. The Saturday Good Market hours will remain the same: 10 am to 6 pm.
