Innovative entrepreneurs profiled by the Business Times (BT) on their creations and their search for financial and other support has drawn some encouraging responses. The BT report on Trincomalee teacher’s S. Parthasarathy water-saving device in flushing the commode ((BT of 5/4/2015) saw him receive many inquiries offering assistance from locals as well as foreigners. Reading the article on the web, the Students Union of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University where he got his degree has invited Mr, Parthasarathy to speak on his invention. Further, he has been offered assistance to market the product by some entrepreneurs in India.

The story on Engineer Upali Gunawardena’s designer transport vehicles (BT of 10/5/2015), saw Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake telephoning him on the same Sunday. He met the Minister the next day and the latter assured Mr. Gunawardena that he would explore possibilities of solving his problems.

Further, the Minister had invited him to be the first speaker at the monthly forum of “Ease of Doing Business” where two other Ministers were also present. Mr. Gunawardena had enumerated the difficulties he faced and subsequent to his presentation Minister Karunanayake has directed officials who were present from various departments and banks to find solutions to Mr. Gunawardena’s problems.
