St. Benedict’s College 150th anniversary
View(s):Celebrating the 150th anniversary of St. Benedict’s College in Kotahena, ‘Our Own Show’ is a musical showcase of the talent produced and honed at St. Benedict’s College over the years. The concert on June 6, features a blend of choral, vocal and instrumental performances, both classical and contemporary, at the BMICH main auditorium from 7 p.m. onwards.
From early industry pioneers such as the legendary Raj Seneviratne, The Dharmaratne Brothers, Denzil from the popular 1960′s duo Denzil & Bosco and Donald & Benjy from the 80′s band Mirage to modern names in the local music scene such as The Rebels, Choro Benedicte and the premier acapella and vocal group in Colombo, Voice.Print, the musical alumni of the college is rich with history.
The concert will see the introduction of the ‘Jubilee Choir’, a collection of choral singers who have been involved in the choirs of St. Benedict’s over the past years, including popular groups Choro Benedicteand Voice.Print, under the tutelage of well-known choral directors Francis D’Almeida and Krishan Rodrigo.
The line-up for the night will feature a wide spectrum of music to fit all tastes, ranging from classical, jazz, soul, funk, blues and RnB to acapella and Vocal-Play.
