How I spent the last holidays
It was great because we spent
1 ½ months at home. On December 6th we went to Galle with my father’s friends. Our next trip was to Bentota where we touched live baby turtles.
I never forgot to do my regular school work. I spent my time watching cartoons like Sofia the First, Dora
and Tinker Bell.
I helped my mother too. Nanga and I made kebabs and pudding. We went to a Christmas party too. Most of the time, my neighbour friends came to play at our house.
I enjoyed my holidays so much.

A dream I dreamt
I was swarming through some clouds
And suddenly heard many weird sounds
From a great distance, far and loud,
I was amused by the mystery I had found

I flew over the lakes and narrowest streams
Bending, rolling and flying as though I had wings
A magical paradise it was, with amazing things
And I wished those things were mine to keep

I opened my eyes to see those things
But all of them had vanished in a blink
Oh! I realized that it was from in my sleep
It was so real and splendid though it was just a
dream

A healthy mind in a healthy body
A healthy mind results in a healthy body. By keeping a well balanced diet and exercising, we can keep our body in tip-top shape.
A balanced diet means that the food you consume should be very nutritious and does not contain more or less than what is needed. Exercising helps in getting rid of the useless fat and calories to keep your body healthy. All these steps should be taken to maintain a healthy body.
Having a healthy body is very good but if your mind isn’t healthy then you will lose your health. Depression and inferiority complexes are two common mental problems.

To have a healthy mind, you must have positive thoughts. In order to have positive thoughts, you must not look at the negative outcome of things but look towards the positive. By having a positive attitude, you will be able to do things which are hard to do but you will try because you have the will power to do it.
Will power is something that is manifested by a healthy mind. The ability to become a leader comes from your mind and body. When both are healthy, the individual will be happy and successful.

If I were a monster or alien
If I could be a monster or alien,
I would be a super cool alien from outer space. I would be an exploring alien travelling to different galaxies and solar systems and finding out new things about the universe.
I would look like a smart, brainy alien and not like the weird green glob-like aliens who look creepy. I’d be from a distant planet called Zedox II. I would like to make communication with living beings from other planets.

I would also like to be friend with an earthling who I would meet on my visits to earth in my spaceship. We would be secret friends and other people would think my spaceship was an UFO. I would also like to fight in inter-galactic wars with the bad aliens from evil galaxies.
It’s fun imagining being an alien, even if I can’t really be one.

My favourite children’s film
My favourite children’s film is Dr. Dolittle. It is about an animal talker called Maya Dolittle. She is 18 years old and she loves animals so that’s why she’s going to be a vet surgeon. She is learning in a university for it. In the time she is learning, she is solving many problems of animals. For example one day she solved a problem of a pig. The pig was not eating food. Maya came and talked with the pig. The pig was not eating because the pig feels it is fat. Maya talks with the pig and tells the pig to exercise. From that day it becomes correct.
Like that she helps all the animals. She also has a monkey and a dog as her pets. She also solves a problem of the president’s dog. At last she becomes a vet surgeon at age 25. She makes more animals ok, by medicine, by talking and solving problems.

The New Year Festival

The New Year Festival is held on April 14 every year. It is a very important festival in Sri Lanka. Sinhala and Tamil people celebrate it. People buy all the provisions and repair their houses before April 13. They prepare sweetmeats like kavum, kokis, athirasa as we know as Avurudu kavili. Every event of that day is done at an auspicious time. Some people visit their relations with sweetmeats and presents. Children burst crackers.
We can see New Year festivals in villages. We can hear koha’s sounds and can see erabadu flowers in this season. The New Year festival is very joyful for everyone.

The nest
I have a little nest. It is the most beautiful one I have ever seen. There are eggs in the nest.
I peeped to see the eggs but I saw something wonderful. There were feathers in it. I was amazed to see it and I looked deeper. There I saw some blue beautiful eggs. Then one day I saw a golden bird peeping from the nest.

Flowers
Flowers are beautiful things of nature. They appeal to everybody. They spread their fragrance and beautify our home, office, garden, roadside, parks, forests and the whole wide world.
You can ‘say it’ with flowers. We use flowers to express love, sympathy, respect, honour, gratitude and also use them to welcome an important person. People use bouquets, garlands, sprays or just a single rose.

My teachers
Many wonderful teachers taught me to lift me up. They worked hard and taught dedicatedly. They didn’t care about their time and energy. Because of such teachers whom I met in my life I am in this level of improvement.

I am ever thankful to them and I will never forget their services. So, keeping all of them in my heart, I will work for the people in need when I become a doctor.
