The Dehiwala Zoo re- started the elephant show last Friday after the cancellation of the show last year when the elephants were diagnosed with tuberculosis.
The Zoo Officials said that the show will be held at 4.30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday immediately after the bird show .

The Officials said that visitors can watch the elephant show free of charge. They said that a twenty minute performance is conducted by four elephants. The elephants are said to be well trained and are in good health.

Animal Rights activists however have protested that these shows while attracting children who visit the zoo are demeaning for the animals concerned. Pix by Indika Handuwala
