Local digital agency Shift Solutions has incorporated the new Oculus Rift virtual reality headset as part of an integrated marketing communication campaign for a local bank, according to a statement.

New Technology

The statement also noted that the “Oculus Rift is a state-of-the-art headset that is designed by technology company Oculus VR to provide a virtual reality experience that is in a league of its own”.

Further, it also indicated that the “Oculus Rift revolutionises virtual reality (VR) and creates a computer stimulated environment that can simulate the user’s physical presence in different situations, settings and environments by using virtual reality. The Oculus Rift was used for an integrated campaign which strived to create awareness about the array of innovative digital, electronic and mobile banking products and platforms that are offered by the bank, and the solution was also used to showcase the bank’s modern approach to banking in the future”.

Additionally, it stated that the “Oculus Rift technology transported customers to a futuristic bank branch, with a full 3D layout, interactive service desks and avatars that used facial recognition to greet and converse with customers. The futuristic virtual reality experience provided people with the opportunity to experience how the bank will use innovation and new technology in the future, to take Sri Lanka into a new era of banking
Quoted in the statement, Shift Solutions Chief Executive Sujeewa Samarasekara commented, “The Oculus Rift can generate an array of virtual reality scenarios that can be used to create captivating and powerful brand campaigns. Although it was initially created for games, the Rift headset can also provide a practical and engaging solution that injects excitement into industries such as tourism, filmmaking, medicine, fashion design and architecture”.
