Girl Guides Media Tools Workshop

The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association Communications sub-committee organized an All Island Workshop on Media Tools at MTV Channel (Pvt) Ltd., Braybrooke Street, Colombo 2, on January 1, 2015. Girl Guide Leaders, Youth Members and Girl Guides from all the provinces were present.
Mr. Yasantha Kumalsiri Director/General Manager News 1st and Mr. Rashmin Ranasinghe, Senior Executive Producer of the MTV Channel supported the planning of the entire workshop including arranging an Executive Producer, Mr. Piyavi Wijeyawardhana to talk to the team through the different stages.
The team was shown around the MTV studios and library, comprising invaluable video footage. The team also witnessed the transmission process of news with the initial stages of news creation.
Mr. Piyavi Wijeyawardhana explained in detail, how the media industry touches individuals from all walks of life and the employment opportunities it creates. The team left with hopes of joining with News 1st in more exciting endeavors in the future.
