Potential brides and grooms can look forward to more than a little help from the Colombo Hilton hotel. Bringing professionals in the wedding business together, Wedding Expo 2015 is designed to showcase the latest trends and fashionable ways to tie the knot. Giving couples the chance to make informed decisions for their big day, the fair will be held on February 7 and 8.

Hilton Colombo’s General Manager Manesh Fernando says over 35 suppliers of everything from cake to cards will be present at the event. Apart from the early-bird offers most suppliers have planned for bookings made during the fair. To be exposed to this many options normally, “you would have to go from one place to another” which is both time and cost consuming.

Wedding Expo 2015 will also be the last event in the Hilton ballroom as we know it, according to the GM. “Following the fair, we will be closing the venue until July for refurbishment.” Meanwhile a new location is to be opened for events. “The Grand Marquee by our pool can also be viewed during the two days of the exhibition,” Mr. Fernando added.

Director, Conference and Events at the Hilton, Arosha Perera says that in putting the Expo together, “we gathered the best in the business.” Having worked with all the suppliers to make previous weddings memorable, he feels couples are bound to find everything they want from reliable sources even if just picking up an idea at the fair. Participating companies include well-known names such as 2nd Chance Flowers, Studio U, Imtiaz Asian designer, Mal-Key Rent A car, Poru, Lassana Flora, kairos, Red Velvet, Studio 3000fd, Singer Mega, Heshantha, Abarana Mandhiraya and Jonathans.

Live demonstrations and fashion shows by Bride and Groom Wedding magazine are also part of the line-up for the two days. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance at Rs 150 per person and Rs 200 per couple.
