Champika’s development investment plan to support mid-income families

A development investment plan to support middle income families is to be inaugurated by Technology, Research and Atomic Energy Minister Champika Ranawaka at the BMICH on Tuesday (7).

This plan will be formulated with the assistance of 500 experts and scientists of various fields.
“Though Sri Lanka has had an open economy for 40 years, we have not been able to reach the per capita income level of US$ 12,000,” Minister Ranawaka said, explaining the importance of the project.In his report, the minister is to focus on 10 main divisions which are water, food, health, housing, power, fuel, handlooms, basic sciences and environment.

The minister has discussed the proposals and expert opinions with various groups including academics, trade unionists and relevant officials of state and private organisations. He has also discussed the proposals with foreign ambassadors and high commissioners.
Following these meetings, the minister has received over 1,000 proposals that will be discussed.
