Transporting the audience to the 19th Century Royal Court of Siam, the talented Middle Schoolers of Ladies’ College with a little help from some cute juniors, presented an adaptation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical  ‘The King and I’ last month at the Ladies’ College hall.

‘The King and I’ tells the story of Anna Leonowens, a spirited young British  governess who comes to Siam (present day Thailand) and encounters more than she
bargained for when she has to teach not just King Mongkut’s numerous children but his wives and occasionally His Majesty as well! With great performances by Anna and the King, ably supported by the rest of the cast with singers and dancers, it was a colourful and exciting production.

‘The King and I’ was directed by Kshama Kapukotuwa, with music direction by Beatrice Devasagayam and choreography by Chrysanthi Dissanayake and Menik Neidorff.
