Rs 1,340 billion debt ceiling for Appropriation Bill 2015

The Ministry of Local Governmental and Provincial Councils has been allocated an additional Rs 100 billion for 2015, compared with the allocations for 2014, according to the estimates in the Appropriation Bill for 2015 presented to Parliament on Friday. For next year, the Ministry will get over Rs 234.7 billion, of which, more than Rs 191 billion will go towards recurrent expenditure, while around Rs 43.4 billion has been allocated for capital expenditure.

In 2014, the total amount allocated to this Ministry was around Rs 148.84 billion.
The highest capital expenditure allocation will go to the Northern Provincial Council (Rs 5.2 billion) while the lowest allocation of around Rs 2.6 billion is for the North Central Provincial Council.
Of the Rs 153.7 billion allocated to the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs, nearly Rs 150 billion will go towards recurrent expenditure, while around Rs 4.4 billion has been set aside for capital expenditure. The recurrent expenditure for 2015 has risen from the Rs. 135 billion allocated for 2014.

The allocation to both the Higher Education and the Education Ministries too has increased for next year. The Higher Education Ministry will get Rs 41.1 billion for 2015, compared with Rs 29. 5 billion for this year, while the Education Ministry will get Rs 47.6 billion for 2015, compared with Rs 38.84 billion in 2014.
The Appropriation Bill has set a borrowing limit of Rs 1,340 billion for 2015.
