The award winning ‘Belumgala’ an investigative radio programme aired on ‘Neth FM’ has made a record breaking 2000th programme and it will be aired on September 29.The radio channel won the SLIM-NEILSON People’s Award in 2014.

“Through ‘Belumgala’ we were able to convey to our listeners that the radio is not there merely to provide entertainment but could play a vital role in society,” Asanka Jayasuriya, the Chief Executive Officer of Neth FM said.

“We were able to expose a large number of fraudsters, major rackets taking place in a Devale in Kandy, womanisers who disguised themselves as Buddhist monks and abused women and specially a number of those child abusers,” he said.

He said that over the last four years there was a severe threat on the programme and this was specially by those who were exposed through Belumgala. They included drug traffickers, child abusers and many of those who were involved in illegal and anti-social activities.
