Record entries for Ceylon Chamber’s Sustainability contest

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has received applications from over 75 local firms to compete in the upcoming Best Corporate Citizens Award (BCCS) 2014 and project awards, a record in the competition’s history, which has been held for over a decade.

Among the companies, who have applied for the competition is multinational firms, diversified conglomerates, SMEs and public quoted firms.

“The interest shown by the competitors’ shows that the BCCS has become a place, where companies want to showcase their Sustainability programmes to the world,” said Alikie Perera, Acting Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

“This interest also shows that increasing number of local firms are focusing on adopting socially and environmentally friendly business practices, which will ensure sustainable development,” she further said.

The awards will be presented on November 25 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.

The winner will take away the “Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Award 2014,’ while awards will also be given to the ‘Best Ten Corporate’ firms.
