Sing Along with ‘The Family’
View(s):A family of entertainers, who are currently in the music industry, performing for many years are coming together to entertain at the sing along on the 19th September , at the Womens International Hall, Cololombo 7.
They had two very successful events in 2013. The recent event being the 25th Anniversary concert of the duo ‘Yohan and Honorine in Concert’ along with their band Black Velvet. This husband and wife duo has been entertaining audiences in Sri Lanka and overseas for over 25 years.
The other event being the ‘Sweet Inspiration Concert’ of the 3 Sisters (Shyami, Yasmin, Marcia) , which was a tribute to their parents Placidus and Rita Fonseka, who were well known musicians. which inspired their children Rowan, Shyami, Yasmin and Yohan to continue in this industry.
Shyami is a member of ‘Friends in Harmony’ and a solo performer , and performs together with her husband Alfie and their son Ravin as well. Alfie was the drummer of ‘Maharaj’, ‘Rebel Children’ and ‘Country Comfort’ in the 70’s , while Ravin is a solo artiste and music producer, has his own recording studio. Yasmin de silva is the frontline vocalist of Sohan & the X’Periments. Rowan was the basist for Moonstones, Esquire Set, Pioneers and many Jazz bands .
